The mind-body connection is accessed through the subconscious mind, so therapies that bypass the conscious mind for the subconscious are appropriate methods to influence physical health and healing. Why? Because subconscious feelings and beliefs can effect the ability to heal mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Symptoms and illness are the language of the body-mind. They are attempts to communicate to us that we are out of balance in some way with our inner self, or spirit. Sometimes (conscious or unconscious) emotions simply need to be felt, understood and let go. Other times body symptoms bring a message that some action needs to be taken. A change in behavior may be indicated, such as working less, ending an unhealthy relationship or stopping addictive behavior. Whatever the particular message, the purpose of a symptom or illness is to communicate that emotional healing or change is needed to restore inner balance.

Mind-body therapies can resolve normal emotions like fear, anger and sadness, when they become problematic. If the emotions don't resolve properly, there is a negative influence on beliefs, behaviors, even the whole body. Mind-body therapies can have a marked effect on such emotions. As a result, subconscious, negative self-beliefs change to positive, affirming beliefs that support the physical ability to heal.

The body is actually the manifestation of the mind. If the thoughts, beliefs and feelings of the mind are changed, the body will change. Therefore, when a physical illness occurs, it can be helpful to look at, and perhaps change, what is happening in the mind and emotions.

Hypnotherapy, NET and breath therapy are examples of such therapies. For more explanation of hypnotherapy see also Why Hypnosis?

Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) is a mind-body technique that treats emotional issues related to physical healing. See also What's NET?

Breath Therapy is a body-focused therapy that utilizes the breath as the route to the subconscious mind. Breath therapy brings intuition surrounding the meaning of body symptoms to consciousness. Breath therapy promotes acceptance and healing of the inner self and supports immune system functioning.
